Primerica gave us way more than an incredible business opportunity. While we got access to a system focused on personal growth and success, as an added bonus, we found each other. Little did we know that God planned for us, two kids from Scarborough, to meet in a North York Primerica office and become partners in business ...and in life.

Partnership for us doesn’t mean a 50/50 union, rather it’s each of us giving our 100% towards a common unified goal. We truly feel so blessed sharing our journey together. It works because there’s cooperation, focus, planning, flexibility and understanding. And trust us, when partnership works, it’s the best thing to make the life and business journey beautiful. Both of us are dually licensed and active in the field. Daren became full-time within 6 months of being life licensed and Antoinette was a full-time University of Toronto student working retail part-time. When we met we were both life licensed District leaders and Antoinette had just quit her part-time job and bought her first car from her first few months licensed and making money. Daren was always the main field trainer, setting a great mentorship example with our teammates. When Daren was not field training others, or when Antoinette wasn’t in school, we both worked all personal appointments together.

Over the years, our partnership has evolved and we’ve adjusted roles. Especially when we became RVPs, where shortly after, the kids came. By this point because of all those years in the field, and the team we had built, Antoinette could now spend her time at home raising the children while focusing on the licensing side of the recruits. Daren continued to lead from the front doing the personal appointments and field training while showing our teammates how to grow and do the same.

Partnership works in a variety of ways. It doesn’t have to be a husband/wife dynamic. A parent/child, or sibling relationship can be just as effective. Actually, the great thing about partnership is it can be any two people that decides what they want to do to win together.

Here are some keys that helped our partnership:

  1. We can’t emphasize enough how important it is to communicate with each other. Be honest and open. Take care of each other and your relationship.

  2. Attend things together as much as possible. It helps you both grow. Especially in this Zoom era this is so feasible. Just log on.

  3. Dream, plan and set goals together. This business allows you to envision an amazing life in the future, but don’t forget to also be present and enjoy the journey.

  4. Remember that everyone and every partnership is different. Work on your strengths and play those up.

  5. Cheerlead each other. We boost each other and are each other’s biggest fans. We want to see each other grow and embrace winning together.

  6. Be two pistons in the same engine that’s driving your business. This means both of you can’t be down at the same time. When one is down the other needs to be up, optimistic and energized to help the other refocus on the big picture. Almost every negative situation in your business is only temporary.

  7. Be grateful for this opportunity. Always remember that just about anywhere else would discourage or even forbid working together. What does that say about those companies caring about your family? More importantly what does it say about our amazing company encouraging family growth and achievement TOGETHER!

  8. Want to almost never argue and have disagreements? Make more money together!

  9. Teach each other. Hold your own trainings and reviews, just with each other. Even-out your knowledge and experience in business so that one of you is just as proficient in the field and working with the team as the other.

  10. Most importantly HAVE TONS OF FUN TOGETHER building your empire! We could not end this piece without saluting Bobby and Candy Gocool for setting such a great example of leadership and success through partnership. We strive to be for our team what they have been to us.

Always remember that classic and profoundly philosophical quote: “It takes two to make a thing go right, it takes two to make it out of sight.” -Rob Base Truly, DnA
