Transformation Through a Hobby

After completing my bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science in my home country of Sri Lanka, I started working as an assistant lecturer. I had left for UK to do my post-graduate studies at the University of London where I was offered a British council scholarship to complete my master’s degree. I had the ambition of becoming a senior lecturer or professor at a University. When I immigrated to Canada, I tried my best to enrol in the PhD program at the University of Guelph. They could not accommodate me due to insufficient research grants and funds. While devastating at first, I started doing survival jobs like telemarketing etc. to keep myself occupied until I obtained a position as a sales and marketing consultant in a large company based in the U.S.

I have a deep founded passion for investing and trading stocks as a hobby after completing my Canadian Securities course. When my daughter was born, I had to do the basic financial planning and reached out to my cousin Seeva who was already a Primerican to assist me with this. At that moment I became eager to learn more about investing. He told me that the only way to learn is to join the company and sit for the mutual fund exam. That is how my journey started at Primerica.

I have had a wonderful journey with Primerica for these last twenty years where I learnt many skills and faced a lot of challenges which have made me a better person. Primerica is a company of destiny. It is not the monetary value alone but the self-contentment and fulfilment you get at the end of the day for helping families which is invaluable. Despite all the stress associated with the ongoing pandemic, Primerica has given me the freedom of time, money, and fulfillment that I simply cannot express in words. There is nothing as gratifying as being able to be such a huge proponent of change in the lives of others, and I can confidently say that Primerica has transformed me into a better human being.

I am so proud of my brother Aravinthan who inspired me to get the Power Builder watch. I would like to thank my upline Seeva, RVP Amal, Murali, and Bobby & Candy for their continued support and leadership. Last but not least I am grateful to my parents, my wife Raji and kids Arani and Aakash for their motivation and support.
